Primordial Awarded Real Time Route Planning Contracts

Primordial is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $838,710.50 in contracts from the United States Army's Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM) to develop a real-time route planning system for soldiers.

Primordial's real-time route planning software, Ground Guidance, is a revolutionary navigation software application designed for tactical and logistic vehicles for use off-road or where road information is unavailable. The patented software determines best path routes through off-road and on-road terrain by analyzing land cover, elevation, and aerial photo databases. Using available threat and hazard databases, Ground Guidance will provide soldiers with safe routes during routine and emergency situations.

For this contract, Ground Guidance mission planning functionality will be embedded in the Command and Control Mobile Intelligent Net-Centric Software, known as C2MINCS. Primordial will tailor Ground Guidance's feature set to meet the unique requirements of a real-time route planning system. C2MINCS, developed and owned by the Communications-Electronics Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CERDEC), enables dismounted soldiers with mobile hardware to communicate in tactically relevant ways with the rest of their units, vehicles, and base.

In December 2007, Primordial's Ground Guidance was one of two programs selected for a Real-Time Route Planning Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) phase I contract. During the contract period, soldiers returning from Iraq were asked to experiment with the prototype software. The positive feedback from soldiers helped Primordial secure a two year phase II contract in November 2008.

"We are very excited to continue feature development of our baseline Ground Guidance application to assist American soldiers in the battlefield," states Randy Milbert, President of Primordial. "This award reflects Primordial's commitment to advance the state of the art in off-road navigation systems."

In addition to military navigation, Primordial also offers a version of Ground Guidance targeted towards civilians, including hikers, hunters and geocachers.
