Primordial Wins Global Nokia Competition

Primordial was recently announced as the winner of Nokia Corporation's worldwide 'Calling All Innovators' Competition. The award was for the prestigious 'Apps on Maps' category, and was selected from over 1500 entrants. Primordial's winning application, 'Ground Guidance for Ovi Maps', was designed to bring Primordial's innovative pedestrian routing solution to Ovi Maps. Ovi Maps is the built-in application on Nokia phones that provides car and pedestrian navigation.

"Primordial's Ground Guidance application, built using the Ovi SDK, was exactly what the judges were looking for in naming it the winner of the Apps On Maps competition. It combined Primordial's truly innovative routing technology with a quality implementation that makes for a great user experience," said Michael Halbherr, VP, Location-based Services, Nokia. "The application complements Ovi Maps' navigation offering, but also extends the feature set through its unique routing solution. We are looking forward to seeing Ground Guidance being available on Ovi."

The award was announced by Niklas Savender, Senior Vice President of Services at Nokia, during his Nokia World 09 keynote address. During the announcement, which was watched lived by over 2000 attendees and web-cast world-wide, Mr. Savender showed a video produced by Nokia highlighting Primordial's winning application. In addition to a prominent placement in the Nokia Ovi on-line application store, Primordial was awarded a US$30,000 cash prize.

"We are tremendously excited by the win", says Clay Babcock, Vice President, Marketing at Primordial. "With the explosive growth in GPS-enabled mobile handsets, Primordial is moving quickly into the consumer marketplace, as we see a growing demand for intelligent pedestrian navigation solutions. This win validates our position. We look forward to deepening our relationship with Nokia."

The Primordial 'Ground Guidance for Ovi Maps' takes advantage of Nokia's new 'Apps on Maps' technology, which allows developers to build Location Based Service (LBS) application into the Ovi Maps. The application also utilized Primordial's new web-service based route generator, which was formally announced at the CTIA Wireless show in October.
