TentacleCustomer: United States Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL)

Dates: 2011 to Present

Funding: $848,791.00

Description: Primordial, intuVision, All Hazards Management (AHM), and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) received Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I and Phase II contracts to develop Tentacle—a multi-camera surveillance and tracking system.  The system detects moving entities in multiple video streams; classifies each as a person, vehicle, or object; extracts shirt, pants, and vehicle colors; detects events (e.g. entering a restricted area, exiting a secure area, abandoning a bag, running); and enables analysts to configure real-time alerts and execute forensic queries.  Tentacle reduces cognitive load and response times by fusing dozens of video feeds into a single, intuitive 3D display.
